In other words. There's two different saw arbors. One for the 500 and one for the 505/510/520's.

OKAY, I'll bite. How do 505 and 510 and 520 arbors vary?

I added 505 just because a 505 is really a 510 with some missing tables. and because Beeg rightly included the 505.

Saw arbors come in two lengths. Reason being there are two different sized tables. Those on a Mark5, MarkVII or MarkV(500) are smaller than the tables on a MarkV(505,510,520) or a Mark7(also a 520). The table dimension that causes the saw arbor lengths to vary is the distance from the left side of the table to the blade slot. That difference is about 3/8".

Historically the Mark5, MarkVII and MarkV(500) were produced with the same arbor which has a left handed nut on the quill side of the blade and a rounded shallow profile on the outer side of the blade.

As Dusty has already shown there is more than one 'style' of saw arbor for the MarkV(505,510,520) and Mark7. The ones he showed are all for the 505...520 models and provide 'automatic' alignment of the blade to the slot. Most other arbors do not, but the earlier shorter saw arbors also automatically align to the slot in those smaller tables.

In addition there are other arbors for shaper cutters, molding head, dado blades.....

So, it would appear that than main thing to look for or inquire about for stuff on e-bay would be the model or part number for anything table saw related. I think I will try and stick with the 500 as I do not have any large projects on the horizon. That, and for the money to upgrade, there seems to be alot of other less expensive options. I have some of Incras stuff for my router/table and I will explore some of their jigs and stuff. I can make a lot of mistakes using 3/4 ply or MDF until I come up with a workable option and still be way ahead money wise. In the mean time I will keep an eye on e-bay,craigslist, etc. for some stuff and watch the Shopsmith site for sales on the stuff I need to upgrade. I have ordered some stuff from Shopsmith and it has not failed, a day or two after I order, it goes on sale:( Once I get things running smooth I will try and plan ahead:) for future orders. Thanks for the info on the arbors. I had seen that there were different ones for different table set-ups and now I can see why. I will be back with more questions and , hopefully som pics. soon

Good Sum up, but keep in mind that model 10 E/ER stuff is mostly not compatible. The way tube spacing is different, there are no SPT mounts so any extension table mounts differently. I could go on, but the main thing is to proceed with caution if considering purchasing any 10 E/ER parts.
