Dusty if you don't know anyone that has said "My Shopsmith can do everything your standalone can do only better". Then you just aren't reading the forums and comments I have read in the past. In fact look at some of the responses to me on this very subject elsewhere on this board. Some Shopsmithers make some very rash statements that are laughable if they weren't casting the rest of us in such bad lights.

And we both totally agree on your last statement which is almost exactly what I expressed in my post.

Sometimes the interpretation of what is 'said' differs between the 'sayer' and the 'listener' because different folks perceive different connotations(or sometime definition).

We need to realize that when being participants in remote 'discussions'.

No I am not casting stones here, since I am not a shining light myself, but do include myself as a target for what I said.

Now as for the obviously incorrect statement re SS being 'better' than brand x, I agree that such all inclusive rash statements are to be avoided and should properly be disregarded by 'the stand a loners'.

I think the description of SS geeks as being rabid fans is often well deserved. Let us not contribute ourselves to that perception.

For myself in regard to powerpro upgrade, there has never been any doubt between my ears as to the proper course of action by myself. My pocket book(and other factors as well) prevented me from being an early responder. I hope to jump on the bandwagon soon.

The available space has never been an issue(until I acquired multiple Mark x and 10E and SPT's).

I have to comment on the somewhat ludicrous examples we set with power standed and power stationed SPT's. When we do so we accept the quality of those 'attachments' as stand alone tools.

I am sure the naysayers see that as folly! Ignorance is bliss!;) I prefer understanding!

It is simple, Ed. We totally disagree (and probably forever will) on this subject.

Yes, I defend my Shopsmith gear. When doing so, I am also defending my decision to buy Shopsmith. I have this gear because it serves my needs and demands no more space than I have to utilize.

As for being cast in bad light, so be it. If those folks, whoever you are referring to, disagree with me - that is fine. I probably disagree with them too. That is what this entire discussion boils down to. We all have opinions - some differing and some the same.

This has gotten OLD, VERY OLD and I am going to attempt to not reenter this debate for the sake of those who don't enjoy our:) bickering.

Not as bad off here, but no emails no webinar but do get emails and Lowe's demo were here and I did go and drool over the new MKVII and power pro. I do think at sometime I will go the full 9 yards but it will take sometime to save up for it.
Did love the power pro head.

I really don't think we disagree. I think somehow we have gotten on the wrong side of each other on this subject. I would guess if we both sat opposite each other and discussed it we would find we are in total agreement.

Plus you missed my post where I said I was probably going to buy the Power Pro.

Ok, I did receive an invitation to the SS webinar.

However, I guess my ignorance is showing, but I was not really sure what to expect from a "webinar"...was it like a youtube demo?

Seeing a tool perform on a video demo is instructional, sure, but I really don't think I would invest big bucks based on a computer presentation.
One of these days I hope to see the powerpro in action, at a state fair, or when we are out traveling in our motorhome, or at a woodworking show.
Until then, I will just accept everyones word that it is a great machine, and drool and dream until I get to dirty my hands on one.

Don't know if I got webinar invite or not. I go through my e-mail very rapidly and don't open anything unfamiliar.

Got my catalog today - March 15th. It advertises PowerPro and all of the new stuff that we've all seen in their weekly? e-mails. BTW we have discussed everything in the catalog here on the forum. However it was nice to receive it.

Just thought - If the webinar invite was sent by Shopsmith, I wouldn't have missed it.

A webinar is a live demonstration you participate in like a conference call. And, afterwards there is a video that you can watch like a You Tube video. So, does anyone know if there is a video to watch?
