I was going to ask the same question as wrmnfzy. So, you say it is best to make it as large as possible JPG. wuold you say to make it as large as the table saw table then? I obviously don't want it hanging over the edges. Unless I move it up against one of the supports.

i am planning on making mine this weekend. I saw I have some 3/4" plywood sitting there collecting dust. so I think i am going to cut that down and make the sled. Then I can get working on finishing this box.

Thanks all for the help on this! I am glad I posted my question. Otherwise I just would have had a bigger pile of fire wood.

You can make it larger than the table. That is one of the advantages of a sled. My old "500" table is only 19" by 14" but my sled is 24" square and works like a charm.

Your caliper may not work real well for setting the dado thickness on an adjustable. The teeth that make the extreme edge cuts are not opposite one another. If the dial doesn't do the trick, test cuts will.

A Tip: Make your cuts just a wee bit deeper than the thickness of the finished pieces. This allows you to sand off the protruding pieces to get smooth external sides.

This is probably the very best joint I have managed. I have made many that do not look near as good as these. Obviously I did not take pictures of those]18237[/ATTACH]
