Bidding wars. I've seen at least two items sold on Ebay for more than Shopsmth was selling for new on a sale/special. I believe the bidders never checked with Shopsmith and simply put in their max price and BAM! People get caught up in the bidding frenzy and want but one thing: to win! But common sense kinda goes out the window. That has to suck when that happens- buying used when you could of purchased new from Shopsmith.

You're welcome jhut. As JPG points out, eBay has no problem with snipers so if you can't beat 'em join 'em. dgale and farmer provided a couple of sites you can use. Or if you don't want to bother just set your maximum bid to something you like and walk away.
I buy a lot less on eBay now and when I do I look for "Buy it Now" so I can avoid the games.
