Side question....other then the DP and lathe, what benefit is a 2 bearing quill anyway?

Anything that connects directly to the quill shaft.
I think the two bearing quill is over hyped. Unless considerable side loading is typical, I think minimal improvement.
However for heavy turning(wet tree trunks becoming bowls) the extra support is beneficial.
Now if using it as a metal milling machine(like a certain member) two may not be enough!:eek:
I found it advantageous when mounting my xx# metal working chuck for tube polishing. I use the original single bearing quill(with new bearing) all other times. xx = Too damn heavy. A struggle to mount holding it with one hand.
