Here is the instructions/manual for the Variable Speed Changer, which was an option on the ER that came with a 3 place pulley system.
I think with just the 3 pulley system it is 750rmp, 1750, 3500rpm.
With the SC on low pulley setting you have a variable RPM range of 425-1600, on the high pulley setting the variable speed is 1850-6800.

One note about a lathe live center,
ANY M2 taper center will work, you don't need a
Shopsmith brand one.

The 3/16" ss M10 tool kit IS the handle(s) for tool rest adjustments!!!


The 3/8-16 setscrew hole in a M10 sanding disk is NOT skewed. (sample of one)

Another thing to consider if you are looking for cheap wood to turn is fire wood.

I found ripped 2x4s to be incredibly frustrating because they would tear out and get a fuzzy regardless of how sharp my chisels were.

I started turning wood that I found on the side of the road and had some decent results. YOu just have to be careful because if its not dry it will crack.

As i'm still practicing, i'm finding the harder the wood I turn the better the results... maybe it's just because I lack the skill that others have on this board... idk.

I have a SuperNova2 chuck. No bowls yet but soon , I have used it to turn disks Yarn Buddy
It is working great so far.
