Shopsmith Forums

Shopsmith use to sell a small light weight x-y jig and I always wanted one. Most of these are far to heavy duty for what I would like to use it for and also too heavy weight wise. A lot of places carry them but none like the one that shopsmith use to sell.

Did anyone here buy one of those?

No it was that in the catalog, it may have started with a AK(some number). It was there for a while but perhaps didn't sell well enough to have made it worth while.

Sometime when I digging in the archives I will try and scan an image of it and add it here or some where.

Just about everyone here has posted excellent ways to drill the dowel. Ed and Ron using the table and fence works great but as they stated, Add some scrap wood to the table and fence to prevent your bit from striking the aluminum.

Also, I purchased a V-Block jig from Harbor Freight years back which will work with many sizes of dowel. I simply attached a piece of 2x4 to the underside and use it to clamp the jig to the main table.
