I take that no one has looked up the history of these brass setscrew posts? Anyway not that it matters but the earliest I could find with my name attached was this one:
So "we" have know about this for a few years now.

BTW I think the setscrews with the brass tip are expensive, like maybe over $3 each if I'm recalling correctly, for sure they are more then the $.80 ones that I have purchased.

I am amazed that there have been 24 posts to this thread and no mention of rocking so as to make sure the set screw is tightened at the 'bottom' of the flat.

Post #2 by Rueben? I figured that is why it wasn't mentioned again.

I technically didn't mention the "rocking" or the "wiggle" trick to help confirm it's on the flat (although I had to go back and check my post, since I always do it myself, and I just assume everyone else does), so that is probably a good tip for people.

I agree that is part of 'proper' but since it was not even clear that the set screw was even being aligned to the flat I think 'rocking/wiggling' needed to be stated for a 'newbe'.

How ever 'rocking/wiggling' only works if you are first on the flat........
