DC3300: anyone convert it for use with a Wynn sub 1 micron pleated filter

I have a HF DC with a Wynn canister and to answer the question Dusty asked way back when ..... (why?) .... Because the pleated filter has waaaaay more surface area which means it passes waaaaaay more air which improves the flow and suction dramatically.

The improvement on my HF DC here in AZ was so dramatic that I converted my big DC back home in BC and had the same result ..... about double the suction.
What I did there however was to use (after reading a very good blog on Lumberjocks) Donaldson truck filters. They offer the same filtration ratings as the Wynn ones but because they are a high volume seller to the trucking industry instead of a low volume woodworking retailer the prices are much lower.
I went to the local truck repair place and toured the storeroom with the parts man looking for one with dimensions that would work for me. There are lots of choices and the prices differ not based on the quality of the filter as much as on the popularity (sales volume) of that part number. I had to do some adapting but it was more than worth the effort.

Did you find any particular filter model worked best or did you just use off the shelf filters? I just got a quote on a random filter with a 13.08 OD that would be better pricing than dust collector specific filters but it was not stocked.

I used Donaldson filters. I think most of the truck filters are about the same as big diesels are expensive and really don't like dust. The ones I used were rated, just like the Wynn ones, at merv 15 @ 99.9% and use nano fiber technology. That's the important part. As I was going to build a manifold anyway, sizes weren't terribly important to me so I just went with the cheapest that would give me the CFM I was looking for and would fit in a decent configuration in the space I had. I went for two times the CFM rating of my DC to keep the restriction down. The improvement was dramatic to put it mildly. If you have found a size that will work, check the filter spec and it should be fine.
One other thing. They come in open one end or open both ends. Mine were closed on one end but I cut the bottoms out of them for my use. with a canister mounted on top of the system you will want a closed (top) one.
