Just a thought, but if you get a planer on E-bay, be very, very , very careful about how it is packed and crated. Mine was packed fairly well, and still arrived with some damage. I have been told that they are notoriously hard to pack and ship. There was a dry spell during the time right before Shopsmith Inc. got involved but I don't think it was for that long a period of time. That is I believe the Magna American era. Shopsmith Inc was formed somewhere around 1972 but I don't know exactly when they began production again (after the Magna/Yuba era).
