I don't know exactly how to answer your question. When I use the auxillary fence, which is almost constantly, I install estension tubes between it and the Main Table. Tying the Main to the Extension Table in this manner makes the entire setup more stable.

If I use a floating table, in this setup, it is usually to the right of the Extension Table. No particular reason why, just one of those things that we (I) do.

I often have a second floating table mounted on the other side. It provides a very adequate table surface and tends to counter balance the main table (left/right tilt). The trunnion locks do not secure a lot of weight.

I've not been following this posting mostly do to the fact I don't have a shopsmith jointer and figured I couldn't be of much help.

The table cloth posts were really funny, had to bring the wife down to read them, we had a really good laugh, and for that I thank you all.

How ever looking at what was attempted.... all sorts of flags went up.

This not a jointer operation. The piece is 13" wide and you have a thin strip of bed for support, not good at all. This is a width issue as much as anything else.

I guess by now you already know of better ways so revisit the ones using a table saw, at least that is my vote.

And again thanks for the laugh on the table cloth issue.
