I am hoping the lubricating the sheaths will help...guess I will find out.
When going from fast to slow. It's a GOOD IDEA to turn it down SLOW. Also lube the porkchop.

Even a new/perfect speed control will turn harder going towards slow since you are compressing(temporarily until the floating sheave compensates) the belt with the moving control sheave.
Excessive forcing will cause the porkchop pivot legs to deflect which causes the misalignment of the worm gear to wear the porkchop excessively.
I cannot tout Bill's 'fix' too much!!!!!!!
Keep in mind the
round worm gear contacts the
flat porkchop teeth with line contact surface area until worn.
If yours is stiff now, it will only get stiffer with use.
Follow Algale's suggestion!

Looks like I need to do some more reading and take more than just the logo off to look inside, since much of what you guys are saying is foreign
To me, porkchop still just means delicious dinner plans...
