Power Hubs

I was just viewing a post, by Paul, in General Woodworking (Lathe Chisel Rack) that shows the Power Hubs that he has on his headstock. He uses a hub on the Idler Shaft (upper shaft) that is different than what I have.
The hub that I have on the lower shaft does not have a through bore but the hub on the upper shaft does..
Are these just coincidental differences or does it make a difference which hub is used where?

AIUI, the drive hub with the closed end(shorter etc.) is intended for the idler shaft that protrudes less from the headstock.
The longer drive hub(with the through bore) is intended to be used on the upper shaft and installed with the slimmer end towards the headstock. That allows the correct positioning of the set screw to the shaft and the splines seat fully into the coupler.
P.S. How does your idler shaft hub differ?

I have a few different versions of the headstock side drive hubs. Will try to get photos later.
On the idler shaft, where the jointer hooks up, There is the standard short hub. Sometimes it has a thin piece of metal on the end keeping it from seating in too far, other times its cast as a part of the part as I recall.
On the upper shaft I have some which are "two step" as I call them, where the hub has a small extension that is smooth on the headstock side. I have one which is splined all the way from one end to the other (i think that one came with my power pro).
On the accessory side i have only seen two models - the 1/2" ones and the 5/8" ones.

Older SPT hubs were almost ball shaped(had rounded ends) and somewhat 'thinner'(end to end). They were plated.

The one on the right looks like one from a power station. The one on the left fits the jointer/jig saw/scroll saw(1/2" bore, 5 spline).
Like much current stuff, the black oxide finish differs from earlier 'plain' no finish stuff.

I don't know what is 'right or wrong' but:
1. The two on the right are on the Mark V. The longer one is on the upper shaft.
2. The one on the left is from the Crafter's Station/Power Station.
3. The remaining 1/2" bore is obviously from my jointer (the only 1/2" shaft I have).
