Great Woodworking Weekend

Post by aloibl »

What a great woodworking weekend!!! Weather cooperated and I started on my first real project with some red oak I picked up at the Dakota Hardwoods new store in Austin. I have been practicing on scavaged wood (soft pine) from wooden cable reels that have been taken apart at work so working with this hardwood was a new experience. Made good progress on the project. Also threw in a small project that I needed to do for my mother-in-law.

The only issue that I had was my 1/4" bandsaw blade broke and for some reason the 3/16" blade that I put on would not track right. I would set the blade against the bearings and hand turn the wheels to make sure everything was ok. Everytime that I would start up the bandsaw up using the head-stock the blade would more toward the front of the wheels. The bandsaw blade was used, as well as the 1/4" that broke, so I think I will start by buying some new bandsaw blades before spending very much time on this issue. The 1/4" blade was tracking just fine until it broke and I have never had any issue using my 5/8" blade.

Can't wait until next weekend. Hopefully the weather will cooperate again!

Don't feel to bad. I've had issues with my bandsaw too. Some days things just don't go 100%, but we keep trying.

Just to chime in...

My SS bandsaw and I have a love/hate relationship...It loves to hate me!

Dont get me wrong.. it works fine and I use it quite often... it just has a bit of an attitude. I dont know why - I bought it in 1993, and have always taken excellent care of it. It simply just has an attitude...like my cat.

Some things just cant be explained ;)
