If we are speaking of the locking collars that fit on the Mark V table tubes, I use lots of them in my shop. Primarily, I use them to retain table heights and the alignment of some SPT's. I usually solve the universal complaint of knocking the Mark V down, then having to realign, by having two stop collars on the down tubes.
I can pop the main table off to do lathe work, then pop it back on. The blade is reinstalled and it's back to the same height, one I have determined works well with my stock and sleds.
I also have them on my extension tables.....(I have two, designated right and left) and when I pull them also, they will drop right back in at the proper height. My five foot tubes and floating tables then slide right together, and my table saw setup is fast and correct. (Dusty had mentioned the same approach here several months ago.)
Should I have to move the main table height, I have the locking ring position marked so I can return quickly. Leaving at least one of the extension table at my reference height makes the final realignment fast.
I have another pair on my band saw running on a Power Station. With them in place, it drops right in and alignment is correct.
There is another adjustable stop collar which I do have, but rarely use. I have my system down with the older style.

The SS part # used to be 555999, and they sold in sets of four for about $12.00. I ordered two sets during a traveling academy session.
Suprise, today neither a part # nor word search came up with these neat items. Maybe it's just a senior moment for me, but I couldn't find them.

Non-Adjustable Stop Collar

is not the official name. It is properly referred to as a Tube Collar. When my machine was new, it was part number 501439.
A part number search for that item now comes up with an alternate number 501438 which may have been the correct number all along (typo I'm thinking).
They are listed as singles for $2.46. That's $9.84 for four?????

I think it is reference number 291.
Couldnt find them in the catalog either, but they may be hiding here in with the "Tail Stock"

Exactly my point in the other post about finding things on this web site. For new customers looking around you can't find what you need. Now for experienced users like you with over 500 posts I am sure it is much easier.

this comes only with the experience that time offers. I spent twenty two years searching for this sort of information in illustrated parts breaks for aircraft, missiles and weapons systems.
Others here in this forum have accumulated their own sources of background information, search skills and the like.
Go to Autozone and try to find windshield wipers for your car in their catalogs. The person at the counter can do it. I don't try.
This is what is so neat about Shopsmith. If you need help with something like this, call customer service. Those people are fantastic.
I know that I am skirting the point you are trying to make but not all websites can be built so as to meet the needs of all users.
Shopsmith targets different groups of users with their documents. The new or would be Shopsmith user isn't looking for stop collars; they are lookings for table saws, drill presses, lathes, sanders and the like; the big stuff.
