Miter Bar Question

Does anyone know the length of the miter bar #555895 ? The Shopsmith site only lists this one but they do not say how long it is:mad: Thanks in advance for an answer.

The miter bar is 16" long. It is about 11" to the protractor face and7/8" from there to the pivot point. This is for a model 500, I don't know if the T-track bar of the bigger tables (models other than 500) differ.
Never mind, on checking part number I see it is the T slot style miter bar you are asking about. Sorry I could not help.

That particular bar is 19" long and is not for the miter gauge but for sleds, fixtures, etc.

Thanks Rob. I am going to be making a crosscut sled soon and I was considering that bar. I would prefer something longer (and a little less pricey) so I will look into some other options.

I have made a number of miter slot bars and I have used oak (with a little wax) and have had excellent results. I have read about others who have made them from a low friction plastic with good results too.

Look into this one
http://www.microjig.com/products/zeroplay-guide-bar/ they are available from lots of sources (locally and internet) and fit the 500 and 520 perfectly.
