Have you checked CraigsList for all areas within the range you are willing to drive? This is going to be the best place for you to find a used a machine. I'm not sure about out in KY, but used Shopsmiths can be readily found on CraigsList throughout Northern California and Oregon for anywhere from $250-$1500, depending on model, condition, accessories, and the given seller's awareness of the going rate for used machines.

Not a 510, nor very close, but the best I could find sorta close.

I think there is a jointer in the box.

Definitely has a belt sander, bandsaw, and a planer with stand. I agree it looks like the fence of a jointer sticking up out of that box. That's a pretty good deal, especially with the planer and assuming the powerhead is working okay.

I'm intrigued by the collapsing pile of cedar as well...

I'm not sure how much they want to ship it but here's a new-in-box 510 on E-Bay with a Buy-It-Now price of $1000:

Looks to me like all the makings of a cedar strip canoe. http://www.gilgilpatrick.com/strip-canoe.html
