Hi my name is kevan and I just bought a used 1982 mark5 500. With the band saw and a jointer. I already converted to the 510 table and had to rewire the motor GE wire dry rotted bummer. I have made a qwilt stand for the wife and a pen for myself. Trying to post photo

Did your wire look anything like this?

This condition is endemic to GE motors.

Just like that. Was going to just use heat shrink but then I opened the motor and it looked the same.
