We invited a rather large person to Christmas dinner the same one mentioned in this thread.https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=9688
When the person got up to leave the chair she was setting in had a structural failure.

So this morning a trip out to the shop. A frantic search for a piece of dunage (Cherry I think). I just know it was saved about 10 or so years ago (if memory serves). 30 minutes search time

About 1 1/4 minutes on the trusty SS band saw, about 1 1/3 minutes on the SS disk sander, a quick coat of shelac and a repair part for the chair. $0 dollars

A few minutes to replace the failed part and now better than new.
