Why We Need a Dust Collector

I was in the shop all day yesterday and I made nothing other than this dust cloud. I got started cleaning and wasn't smart enough to wear a mask. Today I have a raspy throat and a slight cough. I wonder why?

Does it get dusty in the shop from just your location, wind ect?

NORMALLY NO.

My door opens to the east. The prevailing winds here are seldom from the East.

Until my leaf blower gave up the ghost, I would wait for a breezy day and that's when I would blow out the shop.

I have "opened up" and used the electric leaf-blower on occasion. :) Even if it doesn't blow all of the dust out what is still in the shop settles in a nice even layer that doesn't look as bad. :D

I thought I was the only one that uses a leave blower to clean the shop. It can sure make a cloud of dust.:D

Thank you gentleman for teaching me why not to turn a leaf blower loose in my shop. The amazing part being that I often use one to clean out the garage. Why I never thought about cleaning out the shop with one is a mystery. I am always appreciative of learning a good lesson before I use inappropriate behavior:D Jim

I vac up my shop after every session but about once a week I get the old leaf blower out and let her have it. Never made a cloud like dusty's but ...
