Half finished with Tool Chest

Finished the bottom half of a tool chest a few weekends ago. Here is a few pictures. Still have the upper half to complete. All the wood has been planed, and cut close to final dimensions for the upper case. Still need to cut to final dimension, rabbet the front of the drawer, cut the half-blind dovetails and put it all together. Upper portion should go a lot faster since I learned from doing the lower section. All the wood used in this except for the plywood bottoms of the drawers comes from the centers of wooden reels (see pic) Takes a lot of planing to get the wood into a usable condition but it is free from where I work. It was a good project to learn a lot of basics on.
Thanks,

Really looks nice. What species of wood is it?

Nice work and nice reuse of the pine lumber from the reels. Way to reuse and repurpose the wood.

Looks great. Thought about one of these myself until I saw the scratch and dent pile at sears. Got a roller bottom, middle and top chest for 180.

Thanks for the comments.
Swampgator had it correct when he said it was pine. It is free but I have to go through a lot of work to get usable board feet out of it. Lots of knots, voids, and warping. But I have burned up a lot of it practicing various techniques, specially with my bandsaw and Porter Cable Dovetail jig. The tool chest was my first major build using the pine.
Going to finish the top portion of the tool chest and the next project I will probably do is to make a new cat tree for our spoiled cat. Going to make it like a winding staircase to the top where her treat bowl will be. Just have some preliminary ideas in my head but it should be an interesting build. As always I will send pics.
Thanks,
