Maybe I am missing something.. I read I thought most of the threads on using the beall polishing system.. Didn't see much about working with the SS
It seems like the adapter slide right on the spindle and locks with one Allen screw.
Nothing else needed pick the right speed and polish.

I built my own triple buff system using some 1/2" all thread appropriate size nuts (6) and washers (12) and some PVC to cover the threads.
Driven either with a drill chuck or my collet chuck with a 1/2" collet. The tail is supported by a 60 degree live center. Very useful for buffing and polishing pens and other small objects.
I can use either on my SS or my Dunlap 9" x 45". Typically the Dunlap though.

The other concern I have is that the set screw is coming in at 90 degrees to the tapered portion on the shopsmith shaft. I had issues with this before and others have too (nova adapter for plain 5/8" shaft vs shopsmith shaft).
If the adapter can be re-drilled and tapped to match the taper on the shopsmith shaft that would be ideal.
