I recently purchased a Mark V Shopsmith from the widow of a friend who was trying to raise some cash. The book that I found in the box of odds and ends looks to be around 30 years old.

Is there anyone near Omaha Nebraska who might be willing to let mw look over their shoulder to learn a few tricks?

Not sure who or if anyone is near you, but you should watch all the Sawdust Session videos, which is like virtually looking over someone's shoulder. Probably start with the maintenance and restoration ones. You'll find all the videos here:http://www.shopsmithacademy.com/Sawdust_Sessions.htm

Also, don't turn the speed dial without the machine running....

I am live in the des moines area just a couple hours away but I wont be home from Afghanistan for a month or so. once I get back I wouldn't mind getting together. I am new to Shopsmith, actually I have only seen pics of mine, and I wouldn't mind bouncing ideas or what not off others

We are all here to have questions and ideas bounced off of us!:)

One of the beautiful features of this forum is that "we are all next door neighbors". Unless you need someone to sweep the floor, I'd bet that we can help.

I live in Bellevue and have all of the Shopsmith Equipment. Mine is also a Mark V. You are welcome to come over and I will show you whatever you would like. I get off work at 1 PM each day.
