table tube sizes

Please can someone tell me the od of the tubes that slide through the tables on a mk5 510 , im in the uk and Its not practical for me to ship in from the us.

thanks. I may have a problem, I have just bought a floating table off ebay, I've just measured it and a 1" tube fits perfectly, problem is my shopsmith has a larger id , approx. 27mm, does anyone have any suggestions how to marry everything up.

There are two versions of the 510 tables. Pre-1986 and post-1986. Are all your tables the same vintage? http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/showthr ... light=1986

The shopsmith main table rails are larger ID than the OD of the connecting tubes. I'll see if I can find the thread discussing it.

The extension tubes are, to my knowledge, all 1" (25.4mm). The front and rear rails are larger (to accept the extension tubes). If you have a mixture of either rails or extension tubes with different diameters...I have no experience and no suggestions to offer.

I guess the 'newly acquired' table has the holes on the front face of the table tubes, and are secured to the table with screws. The tubes on those tables are thicker walled so the id is smaller. The od of both are the same.

Yes you will run in to alignment 'issues' with different tube ids.

The newer version of the table tubes have studs welded to them(therefore no access holes) and are secured with kep nuts from the underside of the table.

Fer get that 254 thing!

P.S. The description here is a different problem from that in the earlier post above. If the new tubes mount the same as your original tubes, you do have the earlier post problem.
