The oddness continues - when I checked 3 days ago and tonight, there was only one listing for a Shopsmith in the KC Craigslist. Oh, and one listing for a Shopsmith manual. It's been this way for many weeks now. Odd and interesting. Not that I need anything.

Hi Bob, I am over in Leavenworth and watch the same listings and also wonder what is going on. Pretty strange.

It seems like the ones around here have gone up in price over $1,000.00.

Houston drought....

Same here in Houston. Of the 9 yes nine Shopsmiths I have bought in the last 6 months only 1 has been in Houston. Funny 4th largest city in the USA and nothing to speak of. Oh there are the crazies $3,000 plus or a guy wanting $2500 for a very used and dirty Greenie. But most if not all of mine are great deals in San Antonio or Dallas area. Worth the drive, but it would be nice to get one local. Not sure I would know how to behave, I would have to drive around for a couple hours before I could put it in the Prius. :D

Bob,

I tried selling my step-dad's old one on CL when I first got my PowerPro and got no biters...I thought I even priced it low. Perhaps nobody is listing because nobody is buying...

So now I just have 2 ShopSmiths, but only use one (for now).

Also from Blue Springs, just on the west side

How much were you asking? Did it come with a bandsaw?:)

It all depends on where you are and the timing...when I bought mine I had my pick of them from over one thousand down to about three hundred...

That's been my experience with used tools and equipment of all kinds...Some folks ask for and get prices higher than retail and some folks just can't get anything for it...and in my experience the quality and condition often have little or nothing to do with it...

When I sold my Smithy and bought the Shopsmith...I listed the Smithy on both Craigs List and E-Bay....and sold it in less than a day and I had Six People trying to buy it..I used lots of good pictures and a good description..And I guess a good price..

The guy that I bought from was convinced that there was nobody out there who wanted to buy with any money....(He had been trying to sell it for weeks.).

I asked $500 and never got a bite...

When I got it, it had a bandsaw, but it was not included with the SS I was selling...I kept it for my own use. :-)

My plan now is to set up the old SS and use it just for Band Saw and Drill Press use...

Nothing wrong with that if you have the room...
