Fantastic explanation and visual! If anybody knows of any other videos like that that show other milling processes, their pros and cons, and how that effects the look and stability of the board, please share them.
My dad has spent the past few months repairing a sawmill and lengthening the bed for a guy he knows. In exchange he gets to use it for a while. He has it all fixed up and has started sawing pine boards from trees he cut a while back. We discussed the processes a little yesterday, but I didn't know enough about to explain it to him. That video helps a LOT to understand the quartersawn process and I'm going to share it with him.
