In my bedroom, laundry seems to take over...we have baskets everywhere and it drives my wife crazy.

I enlisted the help of a young man from church (he has a truck) to get the materials to my shop (1/4 of my garage) and I got to work!

It's not complete (I will apply the finish when it gets warmer) but the construction is complete and it works great! See the attached picture.

I learned a lot during the build. First off, cutting plywood to size is harder than I thought. This was my first time. I used my SS as a $4000 saw horse and cut it all with my circular saw...which needs a new blade!

I learned that I probably should have put the edge banding on BEFORE assembling it.

I learned that I should have done some better clamping before driving the pocket screws in. 2 broke through a tad.

I learned that I have no idea how to use a plane properly.

I learned that I should have turned the bottom over so that the bad side was down so you couldn't see the rough edges.

I learned that I should read the plans better so that I buy the right size boards BEFORE I cut them.

I learned that edge banding was easier to install than I thought it would be...but that I have no idea how to trim it to size... (it still is not trimmed!)

I learned that it is SUPER cool to have a new Dust Deputy for cleanup.

Mostly I learned that I still have a lot to learn.

I had a blast building this, though, and can't wait to start another project!

But much more importantly, how does the wife like it?

My little boogers have somehow grown into BIG boogers. And yep, the laundry piles just grow right along with them!

I tried to use a plane to trim the edge banding. I can't find the video now, but I think I saw Steve Ramsey use one in one of his videos and he made it look SUPER simple. I just clogged the plane and scuffed the wood...

Whew! At least ya did not (intentionally) use it on the plywood!

Didja notice the angle at which SR held his plane, and what kind of plane he used?;)

I initially edge-banded a scrap piece of 3/4 ply and tried trimming it there. No luck.

I did not notice it, and I can't find it to check.

I do know that he used a big one and my plane is not big, so that may be a factor, too.

Interesting. I would be inclined to use a small low angle plane.

I used one of these things, only the one I bought was cheaper.
