Premium Casters template

Don't use a pencil to punch the original holes. I stumbled on this by accident. I put the template up on a leg to help line it up a little before I used a pencil. The light from the window showed thru the existing holes. I just lined it up, taped it down and did the same on the other three legs. Tapped and drilled. Wow! the new ones are great.

That is so good to hear. A number of us have not done so well (in the past). The older templates left something to be desired.

Grady,

I just got the premium caster set (complete with all the hardware) from Shopsmith. The template I got from Shopsmith shows the new holes to be 1 3/4" higher than the old ones. Is it safe to use their template now? There are posts in the forum of the template being off in the past.

That is 1/4" higher than I put mine but we don't know that we use the same wheels.

Got my premium casters installed. The Rev d 5-12 version templates were spot on. Grady, the light behind the holes to line of template worked perfectly and quick. Thanks Grady and Dusty!

claimdude, would you please measure for me the distance between the top new hole amd the hole directly below it.

When the wheels are down, what is the distance from the floor to the bottom of the legs?

I'm glad you have them installed and they are working for you. The new casters are great, especially on a rough or dirty floor.

The holes are 1 3/4 higher center to center. The wheels look like they just kiss the floor but I haven't looked real close. I will check it later today and let you know.

That will work great. Thank you for the response. You have your wheels set 1/16" higher than mine which is better because mine do make some discernible contact with the floor..
