My shopsmiths each came with a tailstock. The grey 82 has the adjustable offset disk with a threaded insert with some morse taper or the other. The greenie just has a big hole, no adjustable disk, let alone a way to mount a center or chuck.

Are those disks normally available? Guess I can only use one lathe at a time but is still like it complete.

Can a mount non-Shopsmith tailstock chucks etc? Many are morse tapered I gather. I'd like to get a chuck for end drilling, for example. Just wondering if it gives more options and range of prices.

It take s a standard Morse Taper 2 to mount items. I got my drill chuck at HF and it works fine. If I had it to do over again, I would get the Tailstock chuck arbor for attaching my SS drill chuck. It's rare to find a chuck with the same gear pattern as the SS chucks and you have to babysit different chuck key patterns. (Kind of a hassle). The adapter allows any SS 5/8s attachment to be used on the tailstock.

I have 2 tailstocks with eccentrics. I have different arbors/attachments mounted and switch them out as need for different operations. Drill chuck in one Live center in another for example. Way easier to switch out tailstocks than switch MT2 attachments in the eccentric.

At $20 that actual ss chuck tailstock adapter is a good deal compared to a new chuck, thanks.

I don't think I would have found that part. On the shipping list...
