Just curious if anybody out there could give me an idea of what a shopsmith 520 with band saw all the other parts, pretty much fully loaded and dust collection system is worth. Its in excellent condition and I'm suppose to buy it tomorrow. If anyone could give me a basic price estimate I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

This is really hard to do. It depends so much on detail that you have not provided, where you are, the condition of the equipment and how badly you want this particular machine.

It has all the sanding disks and sand paper, lathe bits and tail stock, has shaper and the bits. It also has I believe a mortise and tenon apparatus. I think it even has a belt sander. Do you think $850 is a good deal?

I know that its spendy straight from shopsmith. I actually think its the 510 not the 520. But it still looks like new. I'm worried more if I buy it and then decide I don't like it, will be had to sell for the same price?? Theyre asking $850

I bought a 520 with all the standard equipment, band saw and dust collector for $850 and thought it was a good deal. The 510 is worth a bit less but if it has the shaper and mortise and tenon and belt sander I'd consider that a good deal.

Thank you, I'll let everyone know what I do and what I actually will get. I'm in Beaverton Or and they don't have a lot of Shopsmiths in the area.

@Woodywork, I'd imagine that you can get it for a bit less anyhow. Everything I've bought from Craigslist (not that many, but still), I've been able to get for $50-100 less than asked. If it is advertised as a 520 but is really a 510 and you're still interested, try offering still less.

Resale might be tough to get your investment back quickly. But if you advertise well enough, I'd think it wouldn't take too long to sell a nice 510/520 for around that price in the Portland general area, especially with Spring approaching.
