I just received my new Mark 7. Looking forward to getting it unpacked and start making some saw dust. Will post more as I get time.

I toured the SS Factory in 2008 and saw a very nice fixture for setting Table Alignment in the assembly line. Recalling my 2007 Mk5 machine, it was quite 'true' when I received it brand-new; I later knocked it out of true by loading a huge heavy glue-up (bench top size) onto the drill press one time.dusty wrote:It looks as though it comes mostly pre-assembled. Add legs and you are ready to go.
However, I would request that you do a complete alignment verification and prepare a report to the forum regarding the results.
Does a new Shopsmith come from the factory pre-aligned and if so to what level of accuracy? I am most interesting in "blade to miter track" and "rip fence to either blade or miter track".
Congratulations on your new equipment.
Mine arrived just a year ago. What a thrill! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.....krusty wrote:I just received my new Mark 7. Looking forward to getting it unpacked and start making some saw dust. Will post more as I get time.
Yeah, I agree with all that. However, it also would've been an interesting design decision to make the box look like it has a sticker slapped on it. But, my guess is you're correct.dusty wrote:You can see the printing on the box under the sticker. It looks like the corner of a V to me.
I am sure that Shopsmith had either an inventory of boxes or a supply contract for those boxes. Reprinting boxes just to change the V to a 7 would be, imho, cost prohibitive. Boxes of that quality and size are not inexpensive. The same thing can be said about changing the printing contract for new boxes.
