Hi All

I have a question regarding the rip fence. The rip fence fits fine on the fromt of the table, but the back lock, which looks like an "L" will not grasp the underside of the table. Since it's held onto the rip fence casting with a roll pin, there seems to be no adjustment to allow lowering the back lock so that it will grasp the underside of the table. The way it is now, the lip of the 'L' presses against the backside of the table rather than gripping the underside. What is going wrong here?

BTW, should this have been posted in the Forum for Maintenance and Repair topics rather than in this one?

Well, I don't usually reply to my self, but since I found the answer to my question here, I thought I would.

edge of the Table, not hook under it."

So thanks to all of you who would have been happy to answer me

It would be helpful if the word "beveled" were inserted between bottom and edge.

Sounds like a beginner's question to me!

I guess that SS needed you as a proofreader when they wrote that manual

As for a beginner's question -- that's me all the way and unfortunately, there will probably be coming from where that one came from

Fortunately for you, there are many here eager to help. Do not be hesitant!!!!

Many of us who would not call ourselves beginners have questions that are just as common as yours. We just don't admit, especially to others, that we don't know all of the answers. Some of us might even be considered narcissistic.

Pay no attention to Dusty. He often hallucinates.

But he does mean well.(pun not intended).

Pay attention, GeorgeM. You will very soon recognize who is hallucinating and who is speaking the truth.

The good thing is that the vast majority of this forum's membership is good heart-ed, good willed, and capable of good and valid advise about all things Shopsmith. Also, within that group are those with sincere questions about how-to xxx with their Shopsmith.

Some of us do not agree with others of us but then there are those of us that would not even agree that today, here in Arizona, the skies will be clear and blue and it will be hot.

My son-in-law & daughter were stationed at Fort Huachuca for a couple of years -- my wife & I drove out there and stayed a month or so -- what a lovely area of the country.

Yes, we like it here. We chose Tucson for retirement when I left the AF having been stationed twice at Davis-Monthan AFB.

Your comment would lead me to believe that you were here sometime between February and Mid-June or October, November and December.
