I had to stop progress on this build, due to not having the proper screw lengths for the uprights to be attached.

Tomorrow, I will seek them out. I will try to get, screws and some sort of insert to, well <insert> into the wood, so that one can dismantle the upright and nest the two trays together, for storage, when not in use!

Today, I located T-Nuts for the supports. But once again, the cost of them, were IMHO cost prohibitive, so I intend to use dowels and pegs to attach the two verticals of this project.

Here is a finished Fruit Tray, now mind ya... this latest photo is not my finished fruit tray!

threaded inserts. This link is for 1/4 20, but other sizes abound!

Update, there is a lot more to attaching the uprights. If you build these, be sure to only attach each upright, with two opposing screws in each basket, (in the beginning). As each basket has a tendency to rack. Also, I would highly suggest to get your level out and apply at least 3 screws per basket per side.

All finished with BLO!

Eastern Yellow Pine and 1/2" birch plywood for the slats. I also used 1 inch stainless pan head screws. These trays will be in a highly humid room or any home. We wouldn't want the hardware to begin rusting.

I will, check back on this thread for future suggestions, at a later date. I choose SS Screws. for this lot of the trays.

Next week, I will be vending at a local farm show event.

So no shop time for me... what is a guy to do?

I was at a farmers market today. They would have been a good thing for some of the vendors. Might want to stop in at some and see if you can market them there. Good looking vegetables sell better and double stacked takes up less space!

That's a really good idea!

I might consider a scaled-down version for the kitchen.

I've heard that separating fruit types is a good idea. Mixed fruits in close proximity can issue vapors that lead to faster spoiling.
