Jointer bearing replacement

Greetings All! I need to replace the bearings on the jointer cutter head. Does the heat/cold method work with this or do I need to use an arbor? If I need to use an arbor will a 1 ton work? Do other methods such as the using the HF bearing separator and puller both pull and reinstall the bearing? Thanks! Happy New Year!

I used the HF bearing separator and puller for many years before I got a HF floor shop press. I still use the HF bearing separator and puller as some items do not fit in the shop press. I use short sections of pipe and a hammer to install the bearings making sure only the inner race is contacted.

Do you feel chilling the cutter head will allow the bearing to be installed easier using the pipe and hammer tip or is it just not that tight of a fit? If I get the HF bearing separator can I use it on the other bearings such as the motor or the quill/idler or is a press required? Thanks for your feed back.

hot/cold is not likely necessary.

* May need to 'extend' with the motor.

OK, thanks for the advice. As soon as the bearing separator arrives I'll get right to it.
