My brother gave me a mark v with all kind of attachments. My gosh not sure where to start with this. I have been a welder, fitter, and maintenance mechanic for years. As far as woodworking I worked as a rough carpenter when I got out of the Navy. My son loves fishing and I started to make a lure but broke the strip sander belt. Time to find one tomorrow. I am trying to clean out my little work area to make room for everything. I put a lot of the attachments in my van for now.

Now the big question, what should I make? I mentioned a fishing rod holder to my son and that might be an option. He is 13 and I want to get him going on this thing.

Yes I am big on safety.

Long term projects to pass along. Would make a great graduation gift to your son....

Welcome here, I used to make some of my own fishing rods, for spinning rods, I got rod blanks, cork rings for the handle and rings for the guides, and wrapped and tied the guide rings and did the cork handles, but it was all done by hand, I did make a real low RPM turning machine for winding the threads on the guides and a SS is way to fast for that.
