Im thinking of buying a used shop smith being that I don't have the finances to buy a new mark 7. Can anyone offer me some advice on buying a used SS..such as things to be on the lookout for? Also does anyone know of a specific website or a good place to buy a used shop smith?

Check your Craigslist postings and see what they are going for near you. eBay has some, but they are higher most often.
Put an add in your local area what's about town type blogs under items wanted; Often a free listing.
You may uncover a really well cared for unit in your hometown from someone who has one they inherited and just don't know what to do with it.
I have been given a Mark V by a family that didn't want it to go to a junkyard because it was a family member's. They wanted someone to restore and use it. I received a Greenie that way from a family in Dallas that I am restoring for myself.
Folks here can help get you the info on how to rebuild, repair, restore, maintain, adjust and use it.
Also, if folks here know where you are and that you are looking, they will often send you a heads up when they see one near you. You might want to update your profile with where you live, or tell us so that can happen.
Richard (rjent) found a 10E for me in Colorado, and in acquiring that unit I met another Shopsmith brother named David that I have enjoyed getting to know.
You're part of a family here.
