Well, I found a 510 table and ordered the 520 rails from SS. Found a fence and ordered it as well. The guy I ordered the fence table from went on holidays and I had to wait 3 weeks to get the table. I knew about the carraige difference because I ordered a used carrage so it would clear the dust collector outlet and discovered that it was wider. Hence the hunt for the bigger table and better fence. Started to put things together and discovered another problem (see pic) Anyone have a part number for this? Its part of the 520 fence. This slides along the rail.

Trying to upload again. From your link looks like part229? But mine has the pins as part of the block. I crazy glued it so we'll see Had to put some spacers behind the front rail to get it to sit level.

The part shown in the second picture is reference number 228 the MARK 7 / MARK V520 Rip Fence Rear Pad part number 518423 Price $4.95 from Shopsmith. You can see it at the link below.
Had to put some spacers behind the front rail to get it to sit level.
Spacers belong between the Fence Rail Assemblies and the Tables. They are part number 518403 called Table Spacer. One for each screw that attaches the Rails to the Tables. See reference number 146 in the parts diagram at the link below.

Thanks for the links. I think I need a different arbor for the sanding disc. The one on the 500 mark V isn't long enough to clear the dust collector.
DUH!!! Was just browsing and saw a post that said just extend the quill a bit.
You are correct. Just like the Saw Blade Arbors the 12" Steel Sanding Disk needs a longer Hub to work in the Model 510/505, 520, Mark 7 etc. Lower Saw Blade Guard. That longer hub is part number 514493 and can be found on this website at the following link.
Extending the Quill also extends the Lower Saw Blade Guard too so not a solution. You can use the shorter Hub Sanding Disk but without Dust Colledction. Having the Dust Collection available is a good reason to change the Hub to the longer one. There is a stripped-down version of the Lower Saw Guard for use on the Mark V 500 with 12" Steel Sanding Disks having the shorter Hub called the Disc Sander Dust Chute part number 555167 and can be found on this website at the following link.
None of the Mark 5/V 500 Lower Saw Guards were large enough to hold the 12" Sanding Disks to provide Dust Collection. The Table Inserts did not have a long enough for the 12" Sanding Disk to go all the way up through either.
Since we are on the subject the older Aluminum Sanding Disks do not work in the Model 510/505, 520, Mark 7 etc. Lower Saw Blade Guard either.

Just re-read your post. Thanks Russ. I spent a lot of time squaring the table (510) with the saw blade. and then tried to lower the table over the blade. I need the newer saw guard. Does anyone know if Shop Smith is taking new orders? Went on ebay but didnt see a newer guard for sale.
