There are two holes in the table on my belt sander. Does anyone know if they are there for any specific purpose? In all these many years, I have never had a need to use them -- well, maybe never; I could be missing something.[ATTACH]6933[/ATTACH]
Yes, that is a blood spot.

My Guess would be that they provide a means(bolt holes) to secure them during the milling/grinding of the surface.

Bob (beeg) is right on!!!!! As Usual! Today, I took a look at the instructions that came with the sander. In the 'Operations' portion (page 22,23,and more) The show the plans for a table extension. The even show how to make a jig for sharpening of bench chisels. The holes are 5" apart center to center, if that matters.

Didn't Nick do a Sawdust session or Video Tip about such a table extension?
