Howdy,

The Shopsmith documentation http://www.shopsmith.com/academy/jointers/images/F6-08LG.jpg depicts a jointer fence extension with a 3/4" slot running the length of the fence. A diagram shows the slot to be 4 inches above the bed.

My questions are:

1. What is the purpose of the slot?
2. Is it really needed?

Best,
mike

shear speculation on my part, but 3/8"x3/4" sure sounds like the size of a standard miter bar. seems a little small for installing a T-slot to mount feather boards or stop blocks.

I also do not see a dimension for where to start the 3/8" step in the bottom edge.

The slot is for a Shopsmith featherboard. I purchased the one from Shopsmith and it supports two featherboard that are screwed into t-nuts.
