How do you mount SS bandsaw?

I have had a Mark V Shopsmith for many years, including the bandsaw. But I have had the bandsaw on its own stand. Now, the motor for the bandsaw has gone kaput and I want to use it on the main unit. However I have never done so before and my book does not show how it attaches - I can see where it goes in general, but not sure how you get power off the motor to it. Do you use the pulley on it, and if so is there a place for another pulley? Is there a special adaptor that connects it to the main shaft? None of the pictures in my book show this.

Maybe this is a dumb question and I will figure it out, but if anyone can assist I would appreciate it.

Do you have the power coupler? If knot, here's what it is. Ya might need to order the 555124 that fits on the headstock. You'll also need the hub for the bandsaw.

One of the hubs mounts on the shaft on the bandsaw. The other hub mounts on the left side of the headstock. Then the coupler connects them together.

I have no experience with the power stand so I'm not sure, but you might also want a set of eccentric mounting tubes to aid in alignment between the headstock and bandsaw.

I do have the plastic coupler, I use it for the jointer. However not sure if I have the other metal parts. I will check.

Thanks a lot, this moves me forward a bit... all the pictures of the bandsaw mounted on the main unit are taken from the opposite side and don't show this.

Cass, the other metal parts (eccentric tubes) are not mandatory to mount the bandsaw, but are beneficial. The standard tubes that come with the Bandsaw will work fine. The eccentric tubes offset the bandsaw slightly outboard, and allow you to raise the headstock to a vertical position for drillpress and routing operations with the bandsaw still mounted. Without the eccentric tubes, the end of the way tubes would hit the bandsaw table on the upward swing. The only thing you should need is the plastic coupler and the 4 and 5 splined hubs. The one hub should be permanently mounted on the left side of your headstock. The only thing you should need is the 4-splined hub, and if you don't have that, you COULD swap between your jointer and bandsaw when swapping SPTs until you can get the hub from SS.

NOPE! The hub for the jointer has a 1/2" id. The hub for the Bandsaw has a 5/8" id.

The large offset mounting tubes(shown above) are only needed if you have the newer aluminum table. They are not required with the older cast iron table. The ss can be raised to vertical with the older tubes/table. NONE of the older(pre ss Inc.) mounting tubes were offset, they were all straight.
