I recently aquired one part to what I believe is a free spinning tail stock. I have all of the spinning parts which has a threaded hole in back. I think I am missing the morris taper part to screw in it so it fits in the tail stock port.

Any help with how to obtain or where to find these free spinning tail stocks in the shop smithh parts site will be appreciated.

I believe what you will find works best is a Live Tail Stock with #2 morse taper. I suggest checking this link:

Having been down that road and having tried the dead center available from Shopsmith I discovered the live center from Penn State Industries works better. I hope I correctly understood what you had in mind. I generally attempt to purchase Shopsmith items directly from them. However I am unaware of a Shopsmith selling a live center, theirs is a dead center that burns wood. Fjimp

Shopsmith has sold a live center since the beginning of time.

And twice the price:eek: Does any one have experience with both for a comparison? My Finance Manager (Read Wife) usually wants good reasons to pay double for the same/similar item.

Tell her you believe in 'Buy American'! May or may not be true, but the one may help to assure continued support from the firm that supports the half century old machinery you are needing parts for, the other definitely does not! JMHO

I've read here that some of Pennstates products are questionable.
