I bought the mortise and tenon package from SS. So I began to look for something to build using it. I also happened to be learning to use Sketch-Up at the same time, and found a drawing somewhere on the internet for a Shaker table. Downloaded that, took it apart in sketchup and found it used mortise and tenon joints at all the legs.
There are a lot of mistakes, but this is the finished product. I used pine because I knew there would be the mistakes.

Very nice work there Kenny. What did you use to taper the legs with? Did you have to use extra support for the table when cutting the mortises?

I tapered the legs with the ShopSmith taper jig.
And no, nothing extra for support when doing the mortises....it was pine so it was very easy. Please tell me more about it though so I can use it when the time comes.

Is that your Amatuer call? I'm N8KJG. Work HF ?

I appreciate all the nice comments. Next time, I'll be sure to take pics of the insides where my mistakes show.
BTW: the drawer does fit, but barely. I've always had a difficult time making the perfect 90-degree corners/angles when putting things together. The front face where the drawer slides in isn't aligned well.

I do like that blanket chest, Charlese.....you don't happen to have the plans for it in SketchUp, do you ?
BUT I will take more pics during the assembly of the next project. Only have to figure out what it will be...

Yep,
That is my call sign I have not been very active the last year. After loosing my job and doing the part time thing times have been alot different as far as hobbies and air waves. I do do some HF I have an FT-847 also have a pacsat site that I can do. I have a General class lisence. I was on APRS with a peet bros weather station but ib broke and I can't afford to get it fixed right now.

Here's a thread about the building of the chest. I will look for the exact copy of the magazine I got it from. Yes there is a sketchup drawing - furnished by Wood Workers Journal.
