I would like to know the depth you set the dado blades and on the jig plans is the idicator mark centered or not. It appears off center from the down loaded plans

I little more information would help. To which trivet making jig are you referring?

I have not made this jig, but it seems to me that the indicator mark should be centered on the cutout, although it doesn't show that on the plans. The depth would need to be just more than half the thickness of the stock.

I want to thank you for making this post. I had never seen this session before AND I am in need of some gifts for a White Elephant Party. The ground rules for the party is "Items Useful by Either Gender and Under $5.00". I have been having a hard time figuring out what I would do.

I think that probably depends on how long you want them to last but any hardwood should be acceptable.

Kitchen design and SWMBO probably exerts more influence than anything else.
