Do I need a disk sander table insert?

Can I use the sawblade insert for the metal sanding disk? I am just talking about 90 degree sanding. I have the model 520.

You do knot have to run the sanding disk through the table: You can use the edge of the table placed close to your disk.

I believe that you can use the saw insert with the steel sanding disc. Just make sure you and the disc are clear before you fire up the machine.

Absolutely. Just observe common sense clearance checks. Just so happens my machine is set up in exactly that configuration right now. I like that I can sand away almost dust free with the vacuum hooked up to the lower guard.

By the way, I was able to fairly easily change from saw blade to sanding disc by temporarily removing the insert for access, yet not having to remove, move or change anything else, such as the connected tables or table height. (Config is, on 5' connector tubes: telescoping support legs, Aux 1, Main, Aux 2, Ext..
With the Ext. table on one end and the support Legs on the other, the whole assembly is rock-solid, too.
(side note: just bought new aux tables. I was never able to hook all tables together with the old original tables!)
