Making round tenons?

While taking apart a oak chair to reglue for the daughter. One of the stretcher tenons broke off, so now I'll have to make a new one. BUT what is the easiest way to make the round tenon on the ends of the new stretcher?

There are cutters out there for use in a drill press to cut the tenon on the end of a stretcher or you could turn them on the lathe. Also, if the old stretcher isn't too far gone, you could trim off the broken tenon, drill a hole into the end of the stretcher and use a dowel for the repair, creating a loose tenon.

i would cut the the tenon on the lathe setup wit a parting tool and the appropriate size open-end wrench as a caliper. most wrenches are about .010" oversize and will allow a snug fit.

I agree with Bob (betty). Would add that it sounds like you will also have a couple drilling jobs to do. Weird angles may give you some pause. Having no idea of the shape of the chair, I have no good suggestions at this time.
Sometimes it is easier to disassemble the chair before repair.

Thanks for the reply's people. I went with using the lathe, it didn't take all that long to do. Drilled out the tenon in the leg also. Now all I have to do is clean up the 23 pieces and glue em back together.
