Are saw arbors 500/510 interchangeable?

Post by artfuldodger »

I see a 1 1/4" saw arbor for a Model 510. Will it fit a 500? They have different part number at the Shopsmith site. I guess when they don't specify on Ebay it's probably for a 500.

The 500 table is smaller, and the blade slot is closer to the left edge. The 500 arbors are 'shorter' that the 05/10/20 version.

If you are willing to adjust the blade to the slot(by moving the quill) they are for the most part interchangible(ignoring some blade guard issues).

Assuming a seller knows the difference is a crap shoot!

You have to be careful with interference with the lower guard. If you give us the auction number, we should be able to identify whether the arbor is for a 500.
