Do you know where your "Shaft Alignment Template" is?

I was out in my shop today rearranging things and found mine. I haven't seen it in years.
So where is yours? Did you ever have one?

This was not among the papers I received with my used 520. What' it used for?

This was an aid to align the 1/2" shaft tools to the 5/8" shaft on the headstock. It is print on light card stock so I don't think they intended for people to have them forever.

Excuse my total ignorance but ... 1/2" shaft tools?

Is the offset on that guide 1/8" or 1/16"? It looks to be too large.
No, Ed - I do not know where mine is or if I ever had one (don't think I did).
I don't even know when I would want one. Why would I test for alignment that way?

Certain SPT have a 1/2" shaft rather then a 5/8" shaft. The scroll saw and jig saw are two that come to mind.

The off set is 1/16". This was a way to insure that the 1/2" shaft tools, say the jig saw was to be aligned to the headstock output shaft which is 5/8". The gauge was used to get both horizontal and vertical alignment. Here is a picture to show it being used.

OKAY, I get it but I have always just installed the appropriate hubs and eye balled they for alignment.
Just out of curiosity, I must check my manuals to see if this is still another example of where I have not done due diligence. I often read the manual only when forced.
