I don't know if this appropriate or not. If not let me know and I won't do it again.

Last weekend, I posted some questions about my jointer and conical disc. During the week, I squared the jointer blades to the fence (and of course that was preceded by squaring the fence to the table). While I am still getting some marks on the jointed surface, it is mostly very smooth and exceptionally square. I have no idea what was going on with the conical disc, but now it is sanding very square and smooth.

In addition, I have been using a router in a table to rout a half round channel in two pieces of wood (that I previously cut, jointed and sanded smooth). Then gluing the two routed pieces together to have a long round channel in a solid piece of wood.

Due to being able to correct the errors of last week, I was able to do this in some beautiful birdseye maple today. The piece came out with a perfectly round hole That will not even require sanding. The hole came out smack in the middle of the now square piece of maple.

I am doing the happy dance. I love my shopsmith. In fact, I love all three of them. But don't tell my wife, I think she is already jealous of the time I spend with them.

I don't know why you would think your comments could be inappropriate. It's good to here that someone is proud of their work. Since you included a description of what you did for all to learn from, even better. Keep up the good work.

You want to be proud but not just of your Shopsmith but of yourself, especially yourself. You have done good work. You have learned to apply some of what you didn't even know weeks ago and just look at the results.
