Brother and First Mark V 510

Yesterday morning I was honored to assist my brother Paul with selecting his first Shopsmith. We found a 510 built in the mid 80's and a DC3300 dust collector which he paid $500 for. There is no rust anywhere and the tables show a bit of wear but are in quite good condition. The prior owner had a matched set and not enough room for both. It seems his wife felt the garage a bit crowded. The one we carried to my brothers home will need some work on the speed control and perhaps headstock adjustments. I need to stress that the prior owner invested a good deal of effort in caring for his machines. My brother is a Viet Nam vet who has had a challenging life medically for a number of years. He is unable to work and this is a major financial investment for him. I am especially pleased to be helping him get started again into some wood working as I truly desire to see his life be filled with meaningful and positive projects. I am expecting to see Paul begin posting here soon and pray you will all welcome him to the crew. I have also taken the liberty of inviting the prior owner to join our forum. He is a really nice guy who will be a welcome addition to our forum. Fjimp

My very best wishes to your brother and, though we've never met, my comrade.
I'm honored to be among those who extend him a welcome here, and I sure hope to hear from him, and the seller, too.
This forum has brought me and many others a great amount of pleasure and has has vastly increased my knowledge and joy of woodworking with the Shopsmith. I'm sure it can be just as pleasurable and beneficial to your brother.
I look forward to meeting him.
