I have never had a problem adjusting the position of the cool blocks until today. I can hardly move them in and out. It seems like the Guide Block Bracket (75) is frozen in the Upper Guide Bracket (80).

I never lubricate or wax this so maybe that is my problem. Anyone have any suggestions.

I'm wondering if the Guide Block Spring (78) might have broken and wedged in somehow.

I find this problem quite often. I remove the upper blade guide and post and/or lower blade guide) and soak them in whatever solvent I can find. I remove the guide adjusting knob & screw (81-83, 103-104) and then carefully force #75 out of #80. The steel blade guide spring (78) rusts and reacts to the aluminum/metal? #80 causing a jamming action. It is very easy to drop/lose #78 and/or it may fly away when removing #75 from #80. I have been using a spray dry moly lubricant on #75 and #83/#104 that seems to help prevent this problem. I have not tried any anti-seize grease which I purchased recently to try anywhere aluminum and other metal contact each other. I want to try this grease in my personal headstock casing for the quill bore, drive sleeve bore and eccentric bushing bore for the next one I rebuild.

Fixed my similar problem with a little Zoom Spot Turbo oil. Would have used Miracle oil if I had any, but the Zoom Spout stuff worked. Once working again I found sawdust packed in the works.

Shopsmith recommends graphite.
